Ok, before going any further, what should we start with? IW4M or IW5M tournament?

IW5M seems to be having greater "marketing impact" nowadays, while IW4M has the largest experienced playerbase.

I would vote IW5M for two reasons. First, as stated above, IW5M is our "shining light" nowadays. Secondly, running an IW4M tournament, we might get aRev clients joining... (unless NTA can make some server files exclusive for our tournament, wich will reject aRev players from joining).

After deciding about the game, it's time to decide the gametype. I would go for SnD 5vs5, as it seems to be the most used tournament format (and we want to have the already formed 5-member clans participating aswell)

 

Write what you think about game and gametype first, before going into the tournament rules.

Given the time it takes to organize and perform such tournament, we wouldn't have a winner long before the release of what's now "beta".

Haha I didn't want to name names and put any pressure on people but now that you've spilled the beans as to my thoughts as well hehe =P Yeah Zer0w's obviously the top-tier expert amongst us in that respect. His gold camo pack is kickass.

Anyway, if it's client sided, nobody cares. The winner would have to use custom build, and all of dedis/clients would have to update too just for one goddamn camo. Doesn't seem practical

Our small Bulgarian community managed to put out a 3 team tourney and we eventually got a winner. I think xetal made the same progress, so it's not nearly impossible.

Same with a german tournament - Not sure but I think it was a 6-teams tournament.

Yeah. We had a unified ruleset, etc. If a new one is attempted, we must take advantage of the latest promod+demorec.

I think we need to let go of the of a global tounament for the previously mentioned reasons.

We should indeed have regional tournaments, i.e. first per country (group of countries if little participants) then move on to (part of) continent and then just have multiple winners, as it is unrealistic to pit europeans and australians.

But as mod we have to take the latest promod by banz (several staffs are beta tester)
