Add this to your server.cfg:

set sv_master2 ""

Then your won't respond to alterrev's master server.

on a side note, if i leave it and it does respond to their master server, would they be able to see it and play on it also? or no cuz the client files are all diff ?

They normally would, but there's a small issue with that due to their master server IP changing causing the servers not to show up for them.

this tools need netframe 3.5 ? 4 ? i got stop working and unabled exeption or something like that

When I install the server and its updates, once I run it my PC slows to a crawl. I have a core i7 970 Hexacore with 25 Gigs of ram so its not my pc thats the problem. When i go back to an earlier revision of the dedicated server everything works fine. What could be the problem, or where could I start to diagnose it? I've ran a server before at alterIW with no issues. I'm baffled as to what could be the issue. I've lready tried reinstalling everything and the same happens. Thanks in advance.

I know there is already another tutorial out there, but I made one for some of my friends. I don't know if this is the legit way to set up the server, but its working for us. Take a look if you're getting stumped.

The updater always updates to the latest stable version. You can always look at caches.xml to see what revision you are running on.

Meaning I'd have to stop a server, launch the updater with mono, then either download the caches file or open it with nano and only then I'll know if there's need to update my other servers too. Besides, I prefer to use the updater on my desktop and upload the files manually. Either way, I will need to be on a machine with the client installed before I can figure out if I even have to perform an update to the game-server running on it.

 

It would for example just be a lot easier for people (like me, or lazy people) who are mostly not on machine with the updater installed to know when there's an update available without having to download the updater 8-)

 

Although, a cake would do good too.

on my linux server, the update tool does not update the caches.xml file....

sounds like you're just making the dedicated server with an old aIW installation

If that's the case, just make sure you're using the 4D1 files are it'll be fine
