Its chemistry. You wont need most of that anyway (well, unless you want to do that shit as a job, obviously). So why the hassle?

Wrong - if you study medicine, biology, physics or anything comparable, you will need chemistry.

Edit: At least in europe it's that way.

But not all of it.

But you'll need a high grade to get into a good uni...

Depends on the subject and on the amount of people applying.

If no one but OP applies to oxbridge and OP gets 1 E then no one will be getting offers to oxbridge.

Wait, really? How do you know?

Well that's true, and at the same time it's very unlikely the scenario would actually happen IRL. But if it did... Wouldn't they accept ANYONE rather than no one?

on another note am I the only one who isn't actually intending on following any 'theoretical' university courses at all?

I did accept an offer from university lately, not sure if I'll continue though .-.

Doesn't matter what course you do, but getting into university boosts job and career options, as well as attraction :)

A uni graduate normally earns $40,000/yr more than a secondary grad.

The somewhat bad Hong Kong view of some parents is to get into the uni first, then change course if you really don't like it. This is often frowned upon, but truth is, people like uni grads more than secondary grads. Uni life is very different, and prepares you for adulthood properly.

Trust me, you really want to get into a uni.

Doesn't matter which one.

On the Oxbridge note, no, they don't accept retards. They are a school that teaches the elite, not an elite school that teaches students. They don't only accept A*A*A*A* people either, if you get an exceptional result at a shit school, let's say, they will accept you.

Same applies for 'good' grades at an elite school.

I'm not planning to either

Even if its your favourite subject?

Even then I'm not planning to

Why? I mean, that doesnt make much sense to me. You get to study your favourite subject, a subject youre good at, plus a chance of high salary in the future.

Lack of motivation

a lot of cash should be enough motivation.
