Okay, maybe I should have given out more information.

You see, I've changed school this year. I didn't use to have much homework in my last school, instead, it was a few but longer assignments per week. Being the lazy person I am, I used to do it the night/evening before. Now in this school we have lots of homework (at least I find it as much), about two things has to be done per day. Meaning I can't continue with my do-the-night-before-thing since I first of all haven't got enough time to get everything done (and do it great, for that matter) AND get some sleep. I find myself spending my time doing nothing and getting all distracted on random youtube videos.

It has became an evil circle... I don't sleep enough, tired during the day... repeat.

*sigh*

Edit:

In short: I have no idea how to plan my work and exams.

Edit 2: For instance, I have an exam tomorrow. Got like 20 pages + 40 questions to do. Plus some more stuffs. Got any tips?

What things do you have to do at a day? You come home from school, do your homework and the cycle restarts every day? Do you work? If you don't want distractions have the courage to pull the plug on your PC. Else you just lack discipline and the army would be the best school

Thing is, I need it to write on. (Writing by hand takes too long IMO)

Disable your network adapter or pull the ethernet cable, if you're only typing with it, I'm assuming you won't need the internet.

Will have to do something like this...

You're supposed to read the resume the night before the day of the test.

Works for me usually. Oh, and pay attention in class.

The resume isn't enough I believe, but I'll try to make one for myself next time.

I always (okay, always is a strong word, but I try to be 'on' as much as I can) pay attention in class, so yeah.

Thanks for the help guys :3 But my question remains, how do you get good studying habits? I do realize you have to plan it, but I mean, I've got no idea how long things take for me to do.

From what I found is... you have to NOT be a computer/tech nerd so you won't use your computer. That's what I found out.... All the smart people in my school don't use their computers like ever.

I do indeed find it a lot easier to concentrate when writing by hand, but I haven't done so ever since we got mac books in my last school... So you know, it feels like it takes up so much time.

Edit: I shouldn't be here ._.

So basically you find it hard to make your own notes by hand?

Dude, writing down the task is esential if you really don't want to forget anything. See? Ppl who write cheat sheets at home, they learn at the same time by this activity.

So, my opinion is:

1. Listen at class;

2. Make notes;

3. Drop notes, since it's useless;

4. Copy usable notes from that nice and kind girl behind you;

5. While at home, make your own notes;

6. Learn it;

7. Practice;

8. Practice;

-...

12. If you've practiced enough, profit.

It's all about enthusiasm, and the whole procedure takes about only an hour (in case you're not planning to take your mature exam the day after studying), but it could be much less, important thing is, if you planning to learn the day before the test, well, you're gonna have a bad time.

Oh, don't forget to unplug your PC and TV.

Go to the library, turn your phone on airplane mode.

Do not listen to music.

Then, just do it.

Tearing through past papers also did wonders to my exam results, might be the same to you.

Don't bring your phone*

but :(

No homework? Then write notes, so that you're prepared for anything. Even your long-term projects. Try to compress 5 book pages into less than 3 pages of handwritten notes. Don't forget to add some spaces.

lolsvenske

meh, compressing notes has never worked for me, I seem to remember stuff by brute force ;o

Having good grades doesnt mean youre smart, y'know?

There is a difference between education and intelligence.

Also, on topic: Turn off al the shit that distracts you. FORCE yourself to fucking study that shit.

huh, what, education shit has 'long-term projects'? ._.

Most schools here (and most likely elsewhere) will have set topics that they can teach (some subjects/examining boards requiring you to teach all of it; some let the teachers/school choose which units) and there will be one massive exam at the end of the year (Or 1 exam in December and 1 in the summer if you do modular stuff), so you need to revise a whole years worth of stuff for 1 exam.

Also, questions in year Y exam can cover things you learnt from year X and year W. For A levels (AS as a first year and then your second at A2), the A2 exam paper may well have content that you learnt about at AS.

//not sure if that really answers your quesiton, so:

There are also things like EPQs which a lot of people are taking in my year that you're advised to spend ~100 hours on (solely the pupil's work about their chosen topic - little teacher input) which can count as a whole AS level (Half an A level). One kid in my form just had an offer from Bath Uni of 1 A*, 2 As and an A in his EPQ to get into uni.

that seems like such horrible garbage that makes no sense at all, no guidance whatsoever

I think it's to show how independent the student can be. I'm not taking one myself though, lol. Quite a few people at my school do, however.

expected it to be for such a reason, but what kind of flippin' useless topics do people even find enough stuff to spend time and interest on

unless they're people who themselves are like overachieving and manage to focus on everything
