I just noticed it today, but my fps has dropped from fps on the high foilage maps being at 100 to around 60 and the low foilage maps from 250+ to 120 max. Nothing in settings or PC has changed.

 

Why is this?

Start your game up with the -penis parameter.

They "changed" it or so to use d3d9Ex I believe.

Create a shortcut to LaunchIW4M.exe, right click it and select "Properties". At the the end of the "Target", add -penis and your FPS should be as good as always.

NTAuthority implemented Direct3D9Ex, an extended D3D9 version introduced with Windows 6.0 aka Vista. This SHOULD actually improve performance, alt-tabbing and compatibility with multi-GPU systems.

D3D9ex is enabled by default, the -d3d9 flag let the game run with the "old" Direct3D-version.

This has actually done nothing for me :c I tried this but yet I get 10-15 fps...and It doesn't even get capped at a certain FPS. I sure hope next update fixes this :3

I have 10-20 fps at the moment Had 120-150 beforehand.

Really hope they revert whatever they changed!

i have a friends with this problem too and add parameter doesn't fix the problem

this new update has the BO engine that gave several updates for example:

 

- Performance improvement for dual and quad core systems

- CPU performance improvements

- Improved threading performance on computers with only 2 cores.

 

maybe this fps problem may be related with this

bullshit. If it did have "bo engine" then I really be getting 20-30 fps as well.

By "randomly" do you mean when you change graphic settings, or actually randomly?

After some experimenting this is what I've come up with.

 

Iw4m puts out the "Iw4m.dat has stopped working" randomly

DirectX error occurs when I alt + tab out of game

 

Neither of these has ever happened before. I restarted computer so there are no programs running and tried alt+tabbing out of it, still crashes.

Then my FPS is ass

 

There a way to fix both?

You could run your game in full screen windowed to fix alt-tabbing.

Do you have any.iwds in \m2demo\? or any unnecessary files.

How to do "full screen windowed"? And no, there's nothing but the "demos" folder in there.
