Why 'except the latest revision'?

I thought that iw4m.dll was both the server dedi key AND the launch file (not sure what it's called)

They had the same name so I assumed you only had to use the dedi server if making a dedi server

You're right. I tried his way but failed. I do have the same files as the client.

 

p.s. when I run iw4m.exe with '-dedicated' how do I set players?

I thought you needed a key to run a server.

28968 is the default port

 

And if you add "-dedicated" it works

28968 is the default port

I don't think you can run mods just yet

I would search around the forums or wait until a guide is made

My server works. But one thing you need to change the parameter, you need to include "-dedicated"

 

e.g "-dedicated +set party_maxplayers 12 +set net_port 28961 +exec server.cfg +map_rotate"

I added it in a while ago, it's at the very end

And not a problem, I just wanted to make a guide on how to make a dedicated server so the game would actually be a lot more active

Yes. Since you're hosting it from the same computer you're playing on.

 

For your friends, just give them the exeternal ip + port of the server

 

For you, use your local ip + port

Wine won't be a problem to install and installing steam from there might not be a problem

But a CLI install of MW2 through steam might be difficult

I personally can't help you past what I've already said as I don't use CLI Linux, only GUI

Maybe if you post a topic here someone might be able to help
