Ok, let's leave here anything we find during our tests.

I ran both the client and server updater, and everything went smooth the first time.

Then the server updater continued working fine, but the client updater seems to have a bug.

After deleting caches.xml and starting LaunchIW5M.exe again, (something we use to tell our members to do) the application "stopped working" with the following error:

It will work if I copy just LaunchIW5M.exe, DBNetwork.Indigo.dll and mss32.dll to new folder.

 

p.s.: while writting this, I've been conducting some more tests.

Seems that the error happens if "english" folder exists, even if empty. I deleted all fastfiles and it crashed. Then I deleted "english" folder, and the updater works.

p.s.2: seems that this error won't happen if the updater is ran from the game folder (maybe it was made to crash if not used in a game installation?). Anyway, I think it's worth mentioning.

 

I must add that when the crash happens, caches.xml is not created. So, the crash is not related with the application not being able to launch the game.

won't work.

Wich means that we might have a bit of a mess regarding dedicated server owners and clients having the DLC IWDs or not...

We should obviously push everyone to have the DLCs, wich is what "Ready Up" thread is for. But with sv_pure not working, I think we'll have a shitstorm of people coming here, complaining that they get the error "files different from the server".

Talking about IWDs, I grabbed some null IWDs pack, but it doesn't include the DLC ones. It would be nice if we could get some complete null IWD pack for dedicated server hosts (then they wouldn't have an excuse not to have those IWDs on their server installations).

Regarding Hardcore servers, seems that only the 10 seconds respawn delay got removed.

The other commands such as:

gameOpt commonOption.friendlyFire "0"
gameOpt commonOption.healthRegen "1.0000"
gameOpt commonOption.maxHealth "100"
gameOpt commonOption.radarAlwaysOn "1"
gameOpt commonOption.showKillcam "1"

Are still set to their defaults, wich are:

friendlyFire "1"
healthRegen "disabled"
maxHealth "something low"
radarAlwaysOn "0"
showKillcam "0"

 

B3 is working, but xlrstats isn't registering kills (although kills are registered on the log, wich can mean that the problem is the lack of a xlrststs iw5m php).

p.s.: since this is staff testing, anyone joining my dedi should automatically become superadmin, so that you can try the commands yourselves).

If the dsr is set to respawn 0 it still gives you the 10 second respawn timer.

I was out in the afternoon and I'll be out again soon.

Anyway, my server is giving everyone superadmin status (tweaked clients.py) so that everyone can test b3 commands.

I packed my admin folder a while ago with my current configs. The active one is tdmhc.cfg

Feel free to see the active configs and see what's actually working and what not.

Are you sure about that?

You can check the config files and enter the server to see it for yourself.

About the dlc IWDs and the new dll, I'll try it later when I come back home. Then I'll report back here.

 

Another thing... I'm starting the dedi with this shortcut:

C:\Users\Paulo\Desktop\MW3-Dedicated\iw5m_server.exe +set net_queryPort 55100 +set net_port 27100 +set sv_config tdmhc.cfg +start_map_rotate

Still, the server starts with these parameters:

Spawning map: mp_carbon, gametype war
Initializing Steam Game Server: game port 55100, auth port 8766, query port 27017, gamedir modernwarfare3, version 1.0.0.0

How am I supposed to properly set the query port? I was bumping a bit while setting up b3 until I realized that the server's query port wasn't the one defined on the shortcut.

Also, you'll notice that the map wich the server starts isn't the first one on the rotation (but that's an old issue that always happened to me, and other people aswell)

 

EDIT:

just tried the new dll (ran both server and client updaters) and the same error has now a different description :P

After removing the dlc IWDs from the server installation, I got the error "Impure client detected. Invalid IWD files referenced" (something like that)

Tried again and now got "BG_EvaluateTrajectory: unknown trType: 71"

Now got the first error again...

Gonna put back the IWDs so that we can continue testing the server configs.

Hm, no idea - I remember some weird case-sensitiveness though.

The .dspl isn't a fixed rotation, it's a playlist file - they're run in random order.

iBlack, I edited my post. I took out the dlc IWDs to test it.

Now I'm gonna put them back.

 

Edit: try now (the server even starts faster with the IWDs there)

The idea is not to force the players to download the DLC's... (right?)

Ok, just tested. Runs smooth if the client doesn't have the DLCs :)

I guess it's acceptable to expect server hosts to have the DLCs. Still, null DLC IWDs would make it easier (if anyone knows how no null an IWD, feel free)

Got some weird bug. The server starts just fine, it even shows up in the serverlist. But for some reason I can't join it (Failed to connect to host).

 

Server is running on a VPS, ubuntu 10.04. Checked the ports, and it seems like the server is using the ones it's supposed to use.

 

Tried to run a server on my desktop with the same files, and it worked just fine.

Check this part here on the server console:

Don't rely on the shortcut parameters.

There you got the 3 ports to be forwarded (I believe that you'll only need the game port to connect, but won't hurt forwarding the other two. And yes, I think you must forward the query port aswell for rcon)

Yap, I got back home and kept on the testing. Stuff like enabled teamkill, no health regen, default maxhealth and disabled killcam are still forced.

But the good news is that xlrstats is actually working (some nab forgot that it takes atleast 3 people on the server for it to start collecting data) :P

Ah, those seem to be forced from script.

They should all be forwarded.

 

The query port is needed to show up in the server browser as well.

Tested 3 clients on LAN. only 2 computers randomly crash on me while playing a game. also the stats kept rolling back each time I leave the game or crash during the game. my create-of-class and weapon xp saved tho but not my rank. not a big deal just letting you know.
