Tested 3 clients on LAN. only 2 computers randomly crash on me while playing a game. also the stats kept rolling back each time I leave the game or crash during the game. my create-of-class and weapon xp saved tho but not my rank. not a big deal just letting you know.

That was blocked in version 1.5 or 1.7 of MW3 and I also tried it's blocked.

Just for the record I am reporting the bug that somethimes I get disconnected from dw server and had to restart the game. This happened to ._. a few times as well and maybe more beta players are getting this problem.

Same here but can't be my internet because it didn't kick my other pcs off? even kicks while you playing a match or editing class.

o really? stick it in your server.cfg and find out.

About the updater crash reported on the first post on this thread, I just found out that it happens if localization.txt is not present. But it only happens on the second time you run the updater...

NTAuthority, is there a reason for it to happen, or is it some weird bug?

yeah, I tested this with DUKIP and it worked for us...

The first time I tried it didn't work, the 2nd time it did... and then well I haven't tried it again. But that should be definitely blocked along with xpscale..

After following this guy's problem:

viewtopic.php?f=30&t=11583#p87918

I found out that symbols such as { or } on sv_hostname will crash the log script.

I don't think it's even worth trying to find a way around, since it doesn't make much sense to use such symbols on sv_hostname, but it would be nice to have on the tutorial a list of symbols that cannot be used.

(same goes for # in client name)

While I was testing some commands to use on running servers, I found out this:

-----------------------------------
Spawning map: mp_dome, gametype war
[scriptLoader] Loading script GameLog
Spawn map (mp_dome, war) complete.
-----------------------------------
]gameOpt gametype "dm"
Adding gameopt to session recipe buffer. Will be applied on next map load.
]map mp_plaza2
-----------------------------------
Spawning map: mp_plaza2, gametype war
[scriptLoader] Loading script GameLog
Spawn map (mp_plaza2, war) complete.
-----------------------------------

I tested

gameOpt gametype "dm"

after noticing that

gameOpt commonOption.hardcoreModeOn "1"

was also not working.

Seems that for some reason, the commands aren't actually accepted on a running server...

Ok, kind of worked...

-----------------------------------
]g_gametype dm
g_gametype will be changed upon restarting.
]map_restart
-----------------------------------
Spawning map: mp_underground, gametype dm
[scriptLoader] Loading script GameLog
Spawn map (mp_underground, dm) complete.
-----------------------------------

But hardcore commands still don't work for some reason...

Tried both "scr_hardcore 1" and "g_hardcore 1" (obviously map_restart after setting the commands) but the game never changed to hardcore

Well, direct console input doesn't use to need the "set" prefix.

Anyway, I just tried both your suggestions, just to be sure, and they didn't work.

Gonna keep trying other commands (as I'm trying to include the most on a b3 plugin to extend IWxM server commands support)

I want to allow server admins to fine-tune their servers while in-game, just using a b3 plugin to support the most of the commands

Hum... that explains why the maps have to be randomly picked from a playlist...

But still, both hardcore and gametype commands are used in the same configuration file (the recipe file).

So why do commands like hardcore get reset and gametype doesn't? There must be something else here...

because gametype isn't set from script, as it needs to be known before scripts get loaded - instead it gets applied on DSR execution

So, that script creates like a buffer with some of the commands...

So, we can only change game settings on a running server if we can send commands to the script buffer (let's call it like that). Although with this sentence:

fast_restart/map_restart will reload the match options as the script initialization gets re-executed.

I get a feeling that changing settings on a running server was never considered while developing the script...

Put in simple words, is there a way to change a running server's hardcore status, like we did in IW4 ? (without executing another cfg)

Or maybe this whole idea of modifying a server's setting while running doesn't make that much sense since IW5 is ment to load a recipe file with all the settings each time it rotates to another map...

So basically, in IW5, the only way to tune a running server's configs will be to modify the dsr and wait for the server to rotate and load that dsr again...

It is of note that both .dsr files and .dspl files are reloaded on every map_rotate.

fast_restart/map_restart will reload the match options as the script initialization gets re-executed.

But the dsr doesn't get reloaded on map_restart. I just changed hardcoreModeOn from "0" to "1", (obviously saved the change) restarted the map twice and the game never changed to hardcore. I shutdown the server and when I restarted it, only then game was in hardcore.

Anyway, this was just for the record. Since the recipe files keep getting reloaded on every map rotation, I better just forget about server config changes on a running server.

But just as a last question on this issue (for now, until I figure some way) is there any practical way of knowing wich commands get reset by the initialization script, and wich not? (like g_gametype doesn't, scr_hardcore does, etc)

Ok, I've been trying to get commands going on a running server, and here's a curious thing that I've found after a member asked me about it on the portuguese section... The guy asked me why are the settings all messed up (on the following gametype) when he decides to change the gametype through the console.

My first idea was that it was still loading the other gametype's dsr, wich was causing the "messed up settings", wich is right.

To avoid dsr loading, I launched a server without starting the rotation (double click iw5m_server.exe and "map mp_dome" after it loads server.cfg)

It loaded a Team Deathmatch on Dome. I entered the server and suicide twice with a nade. Then went to the server's console and:

]scr_war_numlives
"scr_war_numlives" is: "0" default: "0"

Everything right so far.

Then g_gametype sd, map_restart

Paulofonta: !g_gametype sd
Paulofonta: !map_restart
-----------------------------------
Spawning map: mp_dome, gametype sd
[scriptLoader] Loading script GameLog
Spawn map (mp_dome, sd) complete.

I killed myself again with a nade and I respawned. Killed myself again and still respawned. Went back to the server's console and:

]scr_sd_numlives
"scr_sd_numlives" is: "1" default: "1"

Wich means that the commands are unlocked, but the server isn't using them.

Because although "scr_sd_numlives" is set to "1", I still have unlimited respawn while playing on sd (note that I never changed "scr_sd_numlives" or "scr_war_numlives" values while the server was running, only checked the values)

p.s.: yes Bas, I know that you're taking a deserved break :P This is just something for you to take a look at when you recover.
