Ok, I've been trying to get commands going on a running server, and here's a curious thing that I've found after a member asked me about it on the portuguese section... The guy asked me why are the settings all messed up (on the following gametype) when he decides to change the gametype through the console.

My first idea was that it was still loading the other gametype's dsr, wich was causing the "messed up settings", wich is right.

To avoid dsr loading, I launched a server without starting the rotation (double click iw5m_server.exe and "map mp_dome" after it loads server.cfg)

It loaded a Team Deathmatch on Dome. I entered the server and suicide twice with a nade. Then went to the server's console and:

]scr_war_numlives
"scr_war_numlives" is: "0" default: "0"

Everything right so far.

Then g_gametype sd, map_restart

Paulofonta: !g_gametype sd
Paulofonta: !map_restart
-----------------------------------
Spawning map: mp_dome, gametype sd
[scriptLoader] Loading script GameLog
Spawn map (mp_dome, sd) complete.

I killed myself again with a nade and I respawned. Killed myself again and still respawned. Went back to the server's console and:

]scr_sd_numlives
"scr_sd_numlives" is: "1" default: "1"

Wich means that the commands are unlocked, but the server isn't using them.

Because although "scr_sd_numlives" is set to "1", I still have unlimited respawn while playing on sd (note that I never changed "scr_sd_numlives" or "scr_war_numlives" values while the server was running, only checked the values)

 

p.s.: yes Bas, I know that you're taking a deserved break :P This is just something for you to take a look at when you recover.

But isn't anything typed in console overrided by what ever is in the DSR?

Well, commands such as scr_sd_timelimit or scr_war_timelimit work though... (tested and being used on my b3 plugin)

And Dukip, notice that I launched the server without starting the rotation to avoid DSRs from being loaded.

Try setting in game with the DSR loaded, set the modified variable and then do map_restart

Just tried, no effect... scr_sd_timelimit works even without map_restart, but scr_dm_numlives won't work, with or without map_restart

Well, I got a problem here...

In IW5M early days, some guy complained that nobody could connect to his server if the server was running any DLC map, other than mp_overwatch. I just assumed that people trying to connect to his server didn't have the DLC maps and I didn't care that much about it.

Recently, 2 more guys complained about it. Trying to figure what was going on, I went on one of those guy's computer through teamviewer. Since the server folder was a mess, I just created a fresh server install, started his server, loaded a DLC map and went in. Since I was able to play, I went off and assumed it was fixed.

On the following day, the guy complained that it wasn't fixed. I went on his server, and he shown me.

If there's just 1 or 2 people on his server, people can play on any map. But if there's more people on the server, people can only play stock maps and mp_overwatch. If he tries to load any other DLC map, he will be able to join the server, but everyone else will hang with the map loading bar full, until he changes to a non-DLC map (or mp_overwatch).

Doesn't seem like a connection issue, since it only happens on DLC maps. My question is why the flying fuck does it happen ONLY with DLC maps (and why doesn't it happen with mp_overwatch?)

I told him that I would take a better look at it tomorrow, (my day off) but I don't have a clue where to start debugging that issue.

Any theory about that issue will be apreciated (halp maaay!!!) :P
