God no i only upgrade if the change has a big advantage i didn't gave up vista for 7 and not doing for 8 either .

The pros don't outweigh the cons .

List the pros and cons please, just so the others who haven't been following the news on this know about it.

the cons (if you don't understand something google it );

The Start menu has been removed in favor of a full screen interface called the Start screen.

The Aero Glass theme, which is featured in Windows Vista and Windows 7 has been removed from Windows 8 in favor of a Metro-style theme.

The Blue Screen of Death no longer shows as much technical information about the error that caused the computer to stop.

The Manage wireless networks under Network and Sharing Center no longer available, although similar function is still available through netsh command

(i copy pasted these from Wikipedia because i am a lazy person .)

the pros

native usb 3.0m support but that is not that necessary since i can use it with vista just fine.

the windows store (i would never use this since i don't like to pay for stuff)

windows native multi monitor support (even tough a can achieve the same results on vista with a nice program whose name i can't recall right now)

the task manager is better ( but it will feel like shit if you are used to the old one)

hybrid boot

Virtual hard disk format

still prefer vista to any other OS (even tough xp was the one that advanced the most for it's time)

Windows 8 is just Microsoft's answer to Mac (hipster, dumbfuck-friendly piece of shit)... Hell, Windows 8 should have just passed on as another Service Pack for Windows 7.

Windows 7 SP1's support is not going away for a hell of a while (full: 2015 extended: 2020), and that's to say if there's no Service Pack 2 in the future, which if so will just extend that date.

Windows 7 is good enough. Microsoft should have waited another two or three years before shoving another OS down our throats. So, no.

But you need a mac to edit video (the only thing you can do better in a mac than in a pc) .

Even tough i think it's still an overprice piece of shit computer that only lives on because of fanboys.

Upgraded 1 day after EntN reached torrent sites, using a modified UpgradeMatrix.xml to allow for an in-place upgrade.

it being a 'con' is subjective

The Aero Glass theme, which is featured in Windows Vista and Windows 7 has been removed from Windows 8 in favor of a Metro-style theme.

con in vista/7: the luna theme, which is featured in windows xp, has been removed from windows vista/7 in favor of an aero-style theme.

The Blue Screen of Death no longer shows as much technical information about the error that caused the computer to stop.

it still shows the error message and driver name; error parameters never were of any use, and the string is easier to remember for web searches. most of the information shown was garbage.

also, con in windows 2000: the blue screen of death no longer shows as much technical information about the loaded kernel drivers.

VBox_NT4_inst_error.jpg

The Manage wireless networks under Network and Sharing Center no longer available, although similar function is still available through netsh command

con in windows 7: the 'connect to a network' window got replaced by a taskbar popup

they're wrong even

native usb 3.0m support but that is not that necessary since i can use it with vista just fine.

not without installing third-party drivers which may cause various issues, also the Intel 7 series UASP support is only usable on 6.2

the windows store (i would never use this since i don't like to pay for stuff)

there are also free applications

windows native multi monitor support (even tough a can achieve the same results on vista with a nice program whose name i can't recall right now)

those are shitty emulations of the actual taskbar, in 6.2 you actually have the actual taskbar.

the task manager is better ( but it will feel like shit if you are used to the old one)

I've used the old one for over 12 years, and the new one does not 'feel like shit' at all, in fact it feels a lot more useful

Virtual hard disk format

VHDs were supported for booting/mounting on 7 as well

well at least you're not one of those vista haters

also XP was just win2k with some tweaks, you know which windows was the most advanced for its time? NT 3.x.

Actually, that's not true in any way. People saying it's faster are wrong, the CPU makes stuff fast, not the OS(It affects it, but not too much).
