Clean UP IW4M: Dedicated Server Tutorial

Опубликовано:

My server is fully updated and everything runs smoothly but no one can see it in the server browser. People can connect to my external IP but still can't see my server in the server browser. I've talked to a couple of people and they have the exact same problem. I have honestly tried everything. (Please don't say "have you port forwarded)

Oh... Whats the Public IP? & Whats the RCON IP?

Is the Public IP my static IP?

What would the RCON IP be?

Those IP's are the same. They are the IP of your game server.

What does that mean? i'm hosting it on my computer so what would be my game server IP? would my game server IP be the one from here? http://www.ipchicken.com/

If you're running b3 locally, then your rcon IP for b3 will be your 192.168.x.x

If it's remote, then it'll be your public ip (which is the one you get when you google "what is my ip?")

OK, so my public IP will be the same then? 192.168.x.x

Do you think 192.168.x.x is an actual IP address?

(I'm just checking)

I thought it was a type of IP, it's an IPv4 isn't it?

Go to http://whatismyip.com and you should be able to use that IP, which is your external IP. My IW4M servers are hosted on the same box as B3, and the b3.xml uses the external IP address.

Also, did you disable the PB plugin yet?

you should change the rcon port to 127.0.0.1, then

Might be a bit more responsive (I would think)

That is an IP, not a port... rcon port is the port for your server, such as 28960.

I already knew that, I meant IP

In that case, he needs to use the external IP. Not internal or local IP.

I was talking to you, not him but whatever, lol

You should always use 127.0.0.1 for rcon if running the server and b3 on the same machine

I've always used the external IP that the game server uses. Not all game servers use the box's primary IP, either, so if you set up a server on a secondary IP, 127.0.0.1 won't work, so it's easier to use the external IP to avoid confusion later on down the road. Trust me, I've set up B3 a LOT of times on the same box as the game server and I ran a hosting company that hosted B3 so I do know a lot about it.

same here, never had a problem with using 127.0.0.1 for the rcon ip

Infact, it's only improved the response time for me

Yes THANK YOU. It worked

No problem. Please let me know if you have any more problems. As I've said, I've got LOTS of experience with B3.

I have done all the steps up to the step where yu make shortcut, but i dont know how to add the parameters

If you don't know how to add parameters to a shortcut, quite frankly, you probably lack the technical skills to run a server.

Yh, it fixed one problem but another is still there. Other people can join the server while b3 is running but i cant. I tried with the server browser and doing /connect but i still get server disconnected. Do i have to use 192.168.x.x:?

Hi there,

I followed step by step all the steps to create a dedicated server i even port forwarded my ports but it seems i can't see my server in server list.

I can connect from my computer using internal ip.

So i would like to ask someone to tell me if he can see my server. The name is SOF Cyprus Server.

South East Europe.
