-->How to make a Dedicated Server for IW4M<--

 

1. Download The Dedicated Server Update Tool: HERE

 

2. Put it in your MW2 Location and run dsut.exe before you continue so you can download the relevant files.

 

--> Normally C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\

 

3. Go into the \main\ folder and create a new file called "server.cfg"

 

4. Open up server.cfg with notepad. Copy all of the code from this page (ctrl + A , ctrl +C) HERE, and paste it on your server.cfg file that you just opened up.

 

 

--> Or, if you want to skip step 3 and 4, just download this server.cfg.

--> Don't forget to change the map rotation

--> Make sure you have the DLC maps or remove them from the rotation

 

5. Rename iw4m.dat to iw4m.exe

 

6. Create a shortcut of iw4m.exe and right click the shortcut, select properties and paste this line at the end of the target line.

 

-dedicated +set party_maxplayers 18 +set net_port 28961 +exec server.cfg +map_rotate

you can add -console if you like the traditional console window. Keep in mind that there might be some minor issues while using -console

 

 

7. Port forward any port you put in "+set net_port "

 

--> 28960 is the default

--> Make sure you port forward on the computer/server as well as on the router or gateway

--> Make sure to portforward with both UDP and TCP or else you will have problems

 

 

8. Run the shortcut and away you go!

Cant connect to your own server? Cant see it in the browser list?

 

--> To connect you will need to goto console and type ''connect " then hit enter.

--> An example would be "connect 192.168.2.6:28961"

--> Afaik, 127.0.0.1 will not work.

 

 

-->Mods<--

 

 

For mods you need to do the following:

 

1) Find the mod you wish to run on your server, for this example I will be using iSnipe.

2) Take your .iwd mod file and rename it to z_svr_.iwd

--> In this example mine will be z_svr_iSnipe.iwd

3) Take your newly named .iwd and create a folder for it. Mine will simply be called isnipe

4) Then just throw your .iwd into the new folder.

5) Put this folder into your /mods directory.

6) Now in your server paramaters, you know:

 

-dedicated +set party_maxplayers 18 +set net_port 28961 +exec server.cfg +map_rotate

 

7) You want to add +set fs_game "mods/

--> It should look something along the lines of (I use my iSnipe example here):

-dedicated +set party_maxplayers 18 +set net_port 28961 +set fs_game "mods/isnipe" +exec server.cfg +map_rotate 

 

 

8) Run your new server launcher thingy (the short-cut with the parameters) and your server should now load the mod

 

-->Playlist<--

Have you forwarded your ports correctly? and have you added port exceptions to Windows Firewall or Router firewall?

Firewall issues are irrelevant to internal communication problems.

That port however is not real (look at the server's console print)

Usage of the !login command

To prevent, that other can change their XUID to your one and control your server, you can use the 'login-plugin', provided by B3.

1.) Add this line to your b3.xml at the 'plugin-section':

2.) Change the plugin_login.xml, loacted in the conf folder to your favorite settings

3.) Go into your MySQL database, and go to (ex. 'b3') --> 'clients' --> search your name (ex. qvp | MAGIC) and click at 'edit'.

4.) Go to this MD5-'translator' homepage, because your password have to saved as MD5-hash. Enter your password in the TEXT thingy and click at ENCODE. Now you can copy your password as MD5-hash...

5.) Change to your MySQL database and paste the MD5-hash password in the password-field.

6.) Start/Restart your B3 and join your server.

7.) Now login with

/!login 

 

IMPORTANT

When you bind/write this command then be sure you are hiding it (default with /!login ! Or your password is revealed!

Did you enter the following in the console?

/connect Internal IP:PORT

Internal IP can be obtained by typing "ipconfig" in command prompt and your Internal IP is your IPv4 address..

When i start the server it immediately crashes .. what should i do ? :?

Do you get an error?

Also please post the content of your console_mp.log in the

brackets...

I don't get nothing i just portforwarded and still it crashesh and creates a crash dump file in the folder.. followed all the steps hope you can help. Okay sorry i've just made some mistakes on the cfg file now it works ty.

Hi, I wondered if it's possible to make the server only Lan visible with some command as possible in IW5M with +set dedicated 1 or +set dedicated 2?

Or will I have to give it a password?

Well I have few questions to ask, related to the Dedicated Server,

First One

I've successfully created a dedicated a server and successfully joined my own server.

1)I'm seeing my dedicated server in the Diffuse Section not in the Internet Tab

2) My Current map is MP_Afghan, I've deleted the chosen maps that I don't wanted to put on my server, from the /main/server.cfg file, Maps which I kept was RUST and Terminal. How Can I make Rust as my default map?

3) My Server is on Team-Deathmatch and I want to convert it into Free for all

4) I'm not able to make or pass any commands via console with-in the game. (If It's hard to explain this step, than don't hurt your fingers at all)

Is your friend joining your server via the 'connect' command or by connecting to your Dedicated Server?

If you friend is connecting via the 'connect' command

make sure he types the following in his in-game console

/connect Ext.IP:Port

You need to give him your External IP Address and the correct port, so that he is able to connect to your server

I have dynamic ip, i cant port forward, and when i run the short cut it says iw4 launcher has stopped working plz help!!

i made successfully my server and i have b3 too...but the problem is that when a game ends the server doesnt change map itself....what can i do for this? thanks..
