Should've been named Project Dingleberry.

Also, jeremych with this you may want to install b3 on your server and get some admins... Especially your rustxp4 server...

B3 is gay :(

aka, I'm too lazy, and can't be bothered to learn how to set it up.

Has anyone compiled this yet?

Obviously

Obviously

so can somebody send me a link in pm?

but btw this mean that the two version will merge together?

It'll be on 4d1.jeremych.com/z/ when lmaobox is back and has compiled it.

No. It just makes us (4D1) able to play on their (aRev) servers, which is something we'll benefit from because they have more players than we have.

my question was more on the long term

Oh well, time will tell.

...and it will allow them to play on IW4M, right?

They are able to play in 4D1 servers even without this, you just need to know the IP ;)

Both master servers are basically the same so they could use the 4d1 server address in their dll to show aRev and 4d1 servers. This change only allows 4D1 to play in aRev servers using their master server address to fetch servers.

I just have a question about this update. Adding aRev master server to the master server lists wont it let the 4D1 release use the matchmaking servers ? As I see you are using the masterServer dvar in the custom_gethostbyname function...

Can a dev confirm this? If this is the case, I don't see the purpose. Who wants to play on alterRev?

alterRevolution has a lot of servers in which you will be able to play, and thats what NTA written in the commit ;) Also it has some fix to let the aRev users join 4D1 servers(just some dedicated server side fixes).

I'm not interested in playing on alterRev servers. I want to play on my IW4M servers, but it would be nice if the alterRev players had the IW4M servers in their browsers as well, which is what I thought this update did. If this isn't the case, I might have to switch the servers back over to alterRev, which I really don't want to do.

The DLL changes allow aRev users to join IW4M servers, yes, but they will need to add the IW4M master server address to their dll in order to see the IW4M servers in their server list ;)

Unless the guys at alterRev release an update, I doubt most of the playerbase there would know how to edit the dll...

The changes can not be done just hex-editing their DLL, they need to add the server like NTA did with aRev server address and release an update, as you said, and I'm pretty sure they'll do

Ah ok.. you said they had to add the IW4M master server address to the dll...

There's nothing on the alterRev site about this project or about them working together with IW4M.

So, to see how this works, I shut down my IW4M servers and started up the alterRev servers. They use identical IP/ports, which is why I shut down the IW4M servers during my test.

Using the IW4M client (r86), my aRev servers are showing up twice in the browser. When I load up aRev, I only see each server once.

If anyone wants to check their browser in IW4M, look for "GrossKopf's...." servers listed. There are supposed to be 3, but there are 6 - two of each.

Well, it's working fine now. The extra servers disappeared.. not sure what's up with that, but it's normal now.
