Can I play with my other friends on steam? or do we have to connect via console like "connect "IP"

1) I'm downloading legit Mw2 from steam on a friends account. Does it check the files or the account?

 

2) Once it checks the steam, do I have to run steam every time before running IW4M?

Oftopic: What is up with AlterRev? Are they legit, because apparently it's ''just like alterIW'' and some say It's a virus. I'm just curious about that community.

But no you can not be banned for using this.

1. It only verifies if you have a legit copy (Nothing else, And doesn't require you to start the steam version or go through it or even look at it)

2. For everyone asking. Consider this like a Completely remade version of modern warfare 2 (steam)

It does not go through your steam game of COD AT ALL.

It's not any where even related to the steam version other than the looks.

Like said before : It is its own CLIENT. Or shall i say, Its OWN GAME (Technically)

But considered a mod of the original, Since it looks/appears exactly like the steam version.

No, it doesn't work yet. Wait for the final release. What is currently available is just a taste of what is to come. It's far from finished in the forum that has been posted.

I heard that Activison are on to NTA and they asked him to remove the files needed to make iw4m playable.

iw4m will hopefully be working sometime soon

It looks like there was only one file that was Activision's and the rest are NTA's, so he removed that one that belonged to Activision. Even if matchmaking works, it looks like you can only play 1 map, so it's really not even worth it.

As I remember, alteriwnet didn't work on xp, so I don't think this version will

Alteriw worked on xp.. Try installing .net framework 3.5 and then 4.0

Well, That's because there are no servers (besides the Developers servers) online, and no players

 

Meanwhile on steam, when I try to play mw2, it says 0 players. And I have to wait about 10 minutes for the lobbies to appear

There are players (a few), I just played a game.

 

I know it's not the right place to post this but: the game crashes when you change the anti-aliasing settings.

make a game, hit your console, type devmap followed by any map title you wish to play, all maps work in matchmaking as well.

Before I had the file so I could see the dedicated server list, if I went into match making, it only let me select one map.

I don't think matchmaking is supported anymore. (It always returns zero players and NTA mentioned not emulating the IWNet platform anymore as his get out of jail free card)

When i try to download it , it open the console but i got the error ' Error during initialization:

Could not authenticate to NP server at iw4.prod.fourdeltaone.net -- bad details.'

@StraDzz You may have uncovered something in the new release. The NP server on the old AlterIW was the logins server, so I think NT's working on logins for the game. As for now, try re-downloading it, and using the legit version of course,

i get an error saying "steam must be running to play this game."

 

 

and yes steam is running, ive tried restarting steam and it never worked
